Teaching Numbers Placemat Activity: Make your own Numbers Book
With the help of your placemat, make your own numbers book. Give your children 11 piece of paper, crayons and a pencil. Use one piece of paper as the cover of your numbers book.
First, write the title for your numbers book and the child's name. Your child is the author! Next, write a different number on each piece of paper. Now, draw a picture of number of objects that corresponds to the number of items on the page.
If your children do not enjoy drawing, have the children cut objects out of magazines that would correspond with the numbers one to ten. Finally, you may want to add text to your book; for example, "One Fish." Children love writing and telling stories. They will have so much fun making their own numbers book.
