Here are a few activities to help teach your children the Alphabet while using their placemat:
Sing the Alphabet Song while using your educational placemat
Children love singing the alphabet song. You may want to sing and point to the letters as you sing the Alphabet song. This activity will help your children with letter recognition.
Count the number of letters on the Alphabet Placemat
They will have so much fun! Count the letters in just one row or for all the uppercase letters. Children will have so much fun learning their alphabet as they count the number of letters.
Teach Children the Alphabet with the Guess the Letters
Since children love to play guessing games, they will love playing our guess the letter game. Have your children close their eyes and point to a letter. When the children open their eyes have them tell you what letter they pointed to.
Teaching your children how to write their ABC's
Children love to practice writing their alphabet. Turn the placemat over and write on the back with washable markers or dry erase markers. They will love trying to write the letters themselves. They will be very busy practicing. This would make an excellent activity for in the car or at home.
Make your own Alphabet story
Children love hearing stories or making up their own stories. Pretend the placemat is a story. Read the story to your children. Afterwards, they may want to make their own story to read to you.
Here is the beginning of the alphabet story I created for my daughter:
Once upon a time, there was an alphabet. It had 26 letters. It began with the letter A for apple. Letter A was friends with the letter B who loved butterflies. The alphabet letters were so happy because letter A and letter B, were also friends with letter C who had a Cat. They loved the Cat so much her name was Carol the Cat. After the letter C for Carol the Cat came the Letter D for Doris the Dog. Doris the Dog was in love with Elephants which starts with the letter E. The letter E loved letter F. Letter F was for funny flowers.
Teach Children by Making their own Alphabet Book
With the help of your placemat, make your own alphabet book. Give your children 27 pieces of paper, along with crayons and a pencil. Use one piece of paper as the cover of your alphabet book. First, write the title for your alphabet book and the child's name. Your child is the author. Next, write a letter on each piece of paper. Now draw a picture of an object with starts with that letter on each page. Finally, you may want to add text to your book. For example "A is for Apple." Children love writing and telling stories. They will have so much fun making their own alphabet book.
Thanks for visiting my online store! I wish you all the best with teaching your children their alphabet!-
